Indian, Malaysian bodies ink pact to promote palm oil
The Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association (IVPA) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further cooperation between the two organisations to promote the use of palm oil.
- The MoU is expected to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, to promote the development and use of Malaysian palm oil and MSPO-certified palm oil.
Kerala govt to launch online cab service Kerala Savari in August
The Kerala government is all set to come up with an alternative to the popular corporate online cab service by launching its own e-taxi service from August, considered to be the first such initiative by any state government in the country.
- Named ‘Kerala Savari’, the online taxi hiring service is being rolled out by the state Labour Department linking the existing auto-taxi networks in the state with an aim to ensure safe and dispute-free travel for the public at affordable rates prevailing in the state.
Chhattisgarh CM flags off ‘Mukhyamantri Mahtari Nyay Rath’ to make women aware of rights
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the occasion of Hareli Tihaar festival flagged off the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahtari Nyay Rath’ with the aim of making the women of the state aware of their constitutional rights and laws.
- The CM also administered the oath of protection, justice and empowerment of women on this occasion, adding that “chariots” flagged off will travel through the districts informing people about legal provisions of women, constitutional rights etc through shorts films, brochures.
Tamil Nadu govt announces breakfast scheme for state-run schools
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin, announced that the state government is all set to roll out a breakfast scheme for state-run school children of Classes 1 to 5.
- The cost would be Rs. 33.56 crores. Breakfast consisting of a meal with sambar and vegetables will be provided to children in all working schools.
India and Egypt sign MoU to set up a green hydrogen plant with investments of $8 billion
India and Egypt have signed an MoU to set up a green hydrogen plant with investments of $8 billion and a capacity of 220,000 tonnes annually in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
- The MoUs was signed by a number of government agencies as the first party: New & Renewable Energy Authority, General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, and Egypt’s Sovereign Fund; and Renew Power Private Ltd., one of the leading companies in the renewable energy industry in India, as the second party.

Largest pink diamond found in 300 years uncovered in Angola
Miners in Angola have uncovered a massive pink diamond that may be the biggest gem of its kind found in the past 300 years.
- The pink diamond is estimated to weigh 170 carats, making it just a smidge smaller than the 182-carat Daria-i-Noor diamond — the largest pink diamond in the world, which today is part of the Iranian National Jewels.
- The new diamond has been nicknamed the “Lulo Rose,” after the Lulo mine in northeastern Angola where it was found.

UK gives Churchill award to Zelenskyy
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Sir Winston Churchill Leadership Award, drawing comparisons between the two leaders in times of crises.
- Johnson recalled how Zelenskyy confirmed on February 24 that Russia had invaded, adding: In that moment of supreme crisis, you faced a test of leadership that was, in its way, as severe as Churchill’s challenge in 1940.
